What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are an injectable gel which contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid can be found naturally in many areas of the body including the eyes, joints and skin.

What can they be used for?

A natural part of ageing can cause volume loss and deep lines. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and helps to restore/add volume, structure, elasticity and moisture to affected areas.

Does it hurt?

There may be slight discomfort during the treatment whilst the dermal filler is being injected into the face. You are given the choice of having an anaesthetic numbing cream before treatment to help to make the treatment more comfortable.

How long does the dermal filler treatment last for?

This mainly depends on how your body responds to the dermal filler. In most individuals dermal filler lasts for anywhere between 6-12 months. In a small minority of cases dermal filler has been known to be broken down by the body sooner than 6 months.
